Fire Protection Engineer (Nuclear)

📍 Location: Texas, Florida, California, or remote

Salary Range: $80,000-$240,000 based on experience

The Role

Perform fire hazards analyses and support regulatory/fire protection bases documentation

Develop fire protection system designs (detection, suppression, water supply, passive features)

Interpret and apply relevant codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, and nuclear-specific requirements)

Support design reviews, hazard evaluations, and technical justification packages

Interface with licensing and safety analysis teams for fire-related inputs

Support field walkdowns, issue resolution, and modifications as needed

What You’ll Do

Qualifications

  • BS in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of fire protection engineering experience (With at least 1 year in nuclear, though extremely compelling chemical industry candidates may be considered. Decades of nuclear experience would tend to place higher onto listed pay range.)
  • Strong familiarity with fire protection codes and engineering methods
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred

Experience supporting nuclear licensing deliverables and QA-controlled environments
