Nuclear I&C Engineer

📍 Location: Florida, Texas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Washington, or Remote (project dependent)

Salary Range: $70,000-$240,000, based on experience and equity desires

The Role

We are seeking a Nuclear I&C Engineer to support design, integration, and verification of instrumentation and control systems for nuclear facilities. This role includes requirements development, system design, vendor coordination, and disciplined documentation suitable for regulated environments.

What You’ll Do

Develop I&C requirements, specifications, and design documentation

Support sensor selection, signal conditioning, and control logic development

Coordinate with vendors for PLC/DCS/digital systems as applicable

Support verification activities (reviews, testing, traceability)

Interface with systems engineering, safety analysis, cybersecurity, and licensing teams

Support commissioning and troubleshooting as needed

Assist on qualification report reviews and CGD plans.

Qualifications

BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field

3+ years experience in I&C design or controls engineering (at least 1 year of nuclear experience strongly preferred)

Strong documentation and cross-functional communication skills

Preferred

Experience with safety-related digital systems, qualification, and regulated QA environments (NQA-1)

Ability to perform setpoint calculations

Ability to write I&C related portions of topical reports, FSAR, and other nuclear licensing documentation for both new reactor designs and interpret existing licensing documents for modification of existing nuclear power plants within design bases.

Ability to facilitate cable management, knowledge of NEC, and ability to ground equipment to IEEE 1050 standards. It is understood that there are some I&C engineers who are more narrowly focused so as to be experts at sensors or control systems and relatively ignorant of the other aspects of the I&C discipline and no matter you skillset we may be able to use you to augment or complement depending on skillsets of other I&C engineers.
