VP Engineering (Nuclear)

📍 Location: Texas, Florida, or Remote

Salary Range: $200,000 to $300,000 (target range, dependent on scope and location)

The Role

We are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead advanced nuclear engineering teams across reactor and fuel-cycle related programs. This leader will set engineering strategy, build scalable design processes, and drive execution from concept through detailed design, test, and regulatory readiness.

The ideal candidate brings technical credibility and, more importantly, a proven ability to build high-performing teams and deliver complex engineered products without burning out the organization.

What You’ll Do

Establish engineering operating rhythms, design control processes, and governance suitable for regulated environments

Lead technical decision-making across competing design options, balancing safety, manufacturability, schedule, and cost

Build roadmaps to advance technology readiness (TRL progression) and close key technical risks

Partner with program leadership on schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and execution metrics

Develop and mentor engineering managers and senior individual contributors

Engage with regulators, partners, investors, and boards with clear technical narratives

Ensure high-quality engineering documentation, reviews, and verification practices

Qualifications

  • BS/MS/PhD in Engineering or related field
  • 15+ years total experience with substantial nuclear content (advanced reactors, LWRs, fuel cycle, or comparable high-consequence systems)
  • 5+ years leading engineering teams, organizations, or major programs
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional execution and resolve technical disagreements decisively

Preferred

  • Experience with licensing-facing design control and verification programs
  • Experience scaling teams in fast-moving technical organizations
