The Role
We are seeking junior to senior safety analyst to support nuclear safety analysis and hazard evaluation activities, including HAZOP facilitation and/or traditional “Chapter 15” safety analysis documentation (or the equivalent of it in new NRC regulatory frameworks). This role supports early conceptual design through detailed design and operational readiness, with an emphasis on disciplined, defensible safety cases.
What You’ll Do
Plan and execute hazard analyses (HAZOP, What-If, FMEA, PHA) for nuclear systems and processes for new reactor designs and new fuel manufacturing (or uranium enrichment) facilities.
Develop safety bases documentation and engineering safety requirements (e.g., licensing basis events and associated analyses etc)
Coordinate hazard closure tracking and ensure mitigations are implemented and verified
Support integration with licensing, QA, and design control processes
Facilitate workshops with multidisciplinary teams and document outcomes clearly
Qualifications
BS/MS in Engineering or related field
3+ years in process hazard analysis or nuclear safety analysis (Prior nuclear experience preferred and decades of experience would tend to place higher onto listed pay range.)
Strong facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
Experience in fuel cycle facilities, DOE environments, or advanced reactor programs
Strong knowledge of chemical hazards, thermal hydraulics, neutronics, and experience with associated software programs (e.g., RELAP, MCNP, etc) is strongly preferred but strong HAZOP experience in petrochemical industry can translate well to integrated safety analysis (ISA).
