Salary Range: $70,000-$215,000, based on experience and desire for equity
The Role
We are seeking a Materials Scientist to support selection, qualification, and performance evaluation of materials used in nuclear environments (high temperature, corrosion, radiation, and long-life duty cycles). This role supports both R&D and near-term engineering deliverables for advanced and operating nuclear programs.
What You’ll Do
Evaluate materials performance under thermal, mechanical, corrosion, and irradiation conditions
Plan and execute test programs (coupons, environmental testing, mechanical testing) and interpret results
Support material selection, specifications, and qualification strategies
Interface with component designers to translate test data into design allowables and margins
Produce clear technical reports and documentation suitable for regulated programs
Qualifications
BS/MS/PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field
3+ years in materials R&D or qualification programs (nuclear preferred)
Strong experimental design, data analysis, and technical writing skills
Preferred
Experience with ASME materials, high-temperature alloys, corrosion science, or irradiation testing
