Salary Range: $100,000 to $300,000 (target range, dependent on level)
The Role
We are seeking a Nuclear Engineer specializing in thermal-hydraulics to support reactor design and safety analysis across multiple programs. This role includes building and validating models, supporting test activities, and producing licensing-quality documentation. Positions supporting a single company doing similar duties are also available.
What You’ll Do
Build and maintain system-level thermal-hydraulic models for reactor and plant systems
Perform analysis to support normal operations and accident response, e.g., licensing basis event analysis
Support model validation, test planning, and test data interpretation
Participate in EMDAP and PIRT activities and uncertainty/sensitivity evaluations as appropriate
Produce reports and documentation suitable for design reviews and licensing interfaces
Establish the extent to which test facilities may be needed and if worthy of investment then plan and construct such test facilities
Support the creation of licensing documentation as necessary. Travel up to 15%.
Qualifications
BS/MS/PhD in Nuclear Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related field
Experience with relevant tools (RELAP, TRACE, GOTHIC, Fluent, STAR-CCM+, MELCOR, MAAP, or similar)
Strong technical writing and documentation discipline
Preferred
Experience with both water and exotic fluids (e.g., sodium or molten salt) is desirable.
History of successfully defending work before NRC and ACRS is desirable.
